Dangerous goods

Shipping lines have tightened their rules concerning dangerous goods, due to several serious incidents on container vessels in recent years. A large number of these incidents, such as fires and explosions, are due to incorrect cargo information.

Therefore, shippers must consider the importance of correctly declaring their dangerous cargo.

Carriers are imposing very high fines for misdeclaration of hazardous cargo to reinforce this.

The amount varies per carrier but can be as high as USD 35.000,-.

All final hazardous cargo details must be in our possession at the time of closing and the Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD form) must be signed and completely correct. No more changes can be made after the IMO closing.
